To be sure our nursery is always staffed to the best of our ability, please call the church building at 610-845-2541 if it is Sunday morning and an emergency arises preventing you from being a nursery attendant. To assist with such an issue, we are hoping to find some people to volunteer as emergency nursery attendants, who might check with the nursery on Sunday mornings, to see that it is staffed, and to fill in if an emergency should arise. We staff our nursery with two adults over age 21. If you are willing to be a nursery floater, please contact Rachel Welch by email rahelwelch@yahoo.com. As a reminder, parents, please do not leave your child in the nursery until the attendants arrive. There is a sheet in the downstairs Narthex that allows you to opt out of receiving a paper copy of the Huff's Church Chatter. Please sign your name and phone number if you no longer wish to receive a paper copy of the newsletter. You may still read it online here. The next meeting of the Capital Improvement Fund Raising Committee will be held on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. For five Sundays, from September 28 to October 26, 2008, we will be presenting our annual stewardship emphasis. The theme this year is "IT MAKES SENSE/CENTS." As usual, it will include special music, skits, testimonials, presentation of giving cards, and a covered dish luncheon on the last Sunday. We hope everyone can attend. This year we have a few special requests: 1. We will be decorating the windows of the church with items that relate to each of the five senses: Smell, Taste, Seeing, Hearing, and Touch. If you have any items you would like to contribute to these displays, it will help make the church so much better for this period of time. Bring in any items you want to share by September 14 and give them to a member of the stewardship committee, or simply leave them (with your name) on the window sill in the church kitchen. They will be returned to you at the end of the program. 2. We are in need of a few actors for the skits that we will be doing. If you are interested, please contact any member of the stewardship committee or Pastor Kropa. 3. We are always looking for new ideas and members for the stewardship committee. If you are interested in this ministry or just have questions about it, please contacct any member of the committee. Adult Mission Trip sign up sheet is located on the downstairs bulletin board for interested adults willing to participate in our mission trip to David, Kentucky, April 18 to 25, 2009. This experience is open to adults 18+ to work in the mountain communities of Kentucky. Questions? Contact Vicar Barry at 610-845-2626. Deadline to sign up is October 31. There are spots available for sponsorship on the Flower Chart for October through December. Also available are bulletin slots. The Flower and Bulletin Charts are located in the upper Narthex. Click here to print an order form that can be mailed to the office with your payment. We remind everyone who sponsors flowers on a Sunday that they are welcome to take them home after the 10:30 worship. The flowers are in an insert in the brass vases and this cannot be taken home, it has to go back to the florist for the flowers for the following week. LeRoy or Ruth Leibensperger will put the flowers in a plastic bag for you to take home. Thank you for your cooperation. Mark your calendar now for Saturday, November 15, for the Fall Meeting of PSEC at St. Paul's UCC, Amityville beginning with a 9:00 a.m. registration and concluding by 2:45 p.m. The theme for the meeting is "Revive Us Again." We are in need of two UCC members to attend this meeting. See Pastor Kropa if you are interested. Quiet Days Announced: Members of the PSEC Spiritual Life Mission Team invite all who desire a "time apart" to join them at Quiet Days at Mensch Mill Conference & Retreat Center. Quet days are held the first Tuesday of each month, September through May, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as a time of spiritual retreat, reflection and renewal. We are in need of more people to be Nursery Sitters during the 10:30 worship service. If you can help, there is a sign up sheet on the Sunday School bulletin board. Please take time to volunteer. Thank you. We are in need of Post Worship Greeters, who greet people after our worship services and provide note pads and envelopes to leave messages for our pastor (needs a visit, someone in hospital, private prayer requests, etc.) If you are willing to do this ministry, please sign up on the schedule in the Sacristy. If you have never done this before, please see Pastor Kropa for instructions. Any girl, Kindergarten through 12th grade, is invited to join the Girl Scout Troop that they are hoping to start again here at Huff's. Meetings will start in September, and if you are interested, please call Sharon Fichter weekdays after 5:00 p.m. or anytime on the weekend. Please call the church office 215-845-2626 for her phone number (we try not to post them on the internet). |
